We tried tried to go on the dirt road around the mountain but due to the rain yesterday, three cars and trucks were stuck at the top. We had to back up quite a ways. Jake, Caroline, Joseph, and I did not like feeling the car slide in the mud as we went backwards so we followed from behind.
A little wetter and colder than usual, but then the hot stew and warm peach dessert tasted all the better.

That looked like a fun afternoon. Paul and Mark took the kids up in the canyon and almost got stuck in the mud, too.
Natalie, you look so pretty. I really like your haircut!
ditto to Becca.
That looks so fun!! Love the family picture and individuals of your kids! Looks like a great day!
I love your family pictures. Do kids get more cooperative with cameras as they get older? I sure struggle to get pics of my kids if they aren't doing anything.
The picture of Natalie almost makes me wish I got highlights instead of dying my hair
And the food - how did you keep it warm?
I wish I could execute such a fun outing.
Al--I take the stew right out of the oven and then wrap it in a towel and blanket. I put one of those warming stones under the peach dessert and wrap it up. We drive up the canyon and it is still hot for about 30 min.
The kids get better at sitting still, but sometimes they won't smile when having bad attitudes.
